A Nice Way to Spend/Waste the Afternoon

I drove down my favorite back roads today. Portions of the drive winds through a dip between two mountains. It's dark and cool. I rolled the windows down in order to hear the birds and crickets. I was reminded of driving through the Smokie Mountains.

I spent the rest of the afternoon manipulating photos I took. I love Photoshop, being off work and being free to roam.

I tried to make my photos look painterly.

How about you? Do you ever drive down favorite roads just for the joy of it?

  6. There is a popular show on the BBC called "Top Gear", which is a car show. I love it, it is funny and entertaining. One of the hosts once said" No one ever drives just to take a drive anymore", and I thought to myself, how true that is. I do not think I can recall when I did that last time. I only do when I have visitors.
Thank you for sharing your lovely drive with us. Loved what you did to the pictures too.;))

  8. Now what you need to do Stevie, is turn your passion into some kind of lucrative business, so you don't have to go back to work!

Love your manipulations, especially the cows.

  10. I love the pictures and what you did to them. I need photo shop! Your last post has really got me thinking about what is going on in my life, or what is not going on in my life. I need more in it, to be more challenged and try new things! I think after the house is done, I am going to see what photo shop is all about! You have inspired me!

  12. Yep. Love old, curvy, shady roads (which means I don't do that much out here!).

  15. I've been having fun playing with PS lately too...but you have really captured a "painterly" look...I love the barn especially.

So glad you are able to take advantage of your extra time by wandering along these beautiful roads...I don't do it nearly as often as I would like or should...

  16. Yeah I have. I'm from Malaysia and from this little town called Ipoh. We've got plenty of back roads here. Each and everyone has a different stall of food to eat at. LOL. Yeah my town is known for food.s :)

  17. Now Stevie...I always enjoy your drives with snaps of what you see...absolutely charming. I too, prefer an outta the way, country route to any highly traveled road!

  18. My back roads don't lead to such picturesque spots such as yours, Stevie! Good job with Photoshop. I don't have that program as yet.

I do like to take subway rides to new spots to explore in the city
:-) There is so much I have yet to see!

  19. I really like to get away from the city, up around the Napa area and drive around the vineyards and back roads there. It is so breathtakingly beautiful, any time of the year but, especially so in winter or early spring when hordes of tourists are not around. A little south of where I live, you run into coastal farms and it's beautiful there as well.
